The Idaho Housing and Finance Association (IHFA) manages the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program across 34 counties in Idaho, excluding Ada and several others. This program, which includes the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) voucher and the Mainstream Non-Elderly with Disabilities voucher, allows participants to choose their own housing within program guidelines. HUD income standards determine eligibility, and participants contribute about 30% of their adjusted gross monthly income toward rent. Due to high demand, waiting lists can extend from 12 to 18 months. Applications can be submitted online or in print, but residents of certain counties must apply through specific channels.
