Ring Sizing

A ring that fits appropriately to the size of your finger should feel a little bit tight. It should slip easily onto your finger yet slide off a bit harder with a slight brush against your skin. When appropriately resized, the ring will maintain its original round shape (in most instances), with no damage to the stones.

When making a ring smaller, our jeweler will cut out a portion of the ring's band or shank, and the ends rejoined with precious metal solders, such as gold or platinum. After restoring the circular shape and completing the soldering, the ring is cleaned and polished to restore the smooth surface.

If you find you need to enlarge your ring, our jeweler may stretch it (as long as there are no stones in the setting) or cut and enlarge it with additional pieces of precious metals soldered into the band or shank.

Due to material properties, we cannot resize some ring styles. However, suppose your ring is made of titanium, tungsten, or cobalt and purchased at Luxenberg's. In that case, the ring manufacturer usually allows you to trade the ring in for a different size for a minimal fee.
