Music in the Schools

Music in the Schools (MIS) sends three of the TSO’s chamber ensembles (String Quintet, Wind Quintet, and Brass and Percussion Ensemble) throughout the season to 36 public, private, parochial, and charter schools, reaching approximately 14,000 students and teachers. The 30-minute interactive performances are geared towards 3rd–5th-grade students. Each ensemble provides a different approach to the annual theme, introduces its instruments, and explores the structure of the music as a language, and its ability to communicate stories and emotions.
