In the 1960s, Victor Westphall, known as "Doc," and his wife Jeanne embarked on a vision to develop a resort in Angel Fire, NM, but tragedy struck when their son, Lt. Victor David Westphall III, lost his life in Vietnam in 1968. To honor their son and the fifteen men who perished with him, Jeanne proposed using David's life insurance to build a chapel. Doc's initial sketches for the Peace and Brotherhood Chapel led to its construction, and the vision expanded to commemorate all Vietnam veterans. This touching tribute stands as a testament to the enduring love and respect for those who served and sacrificed in the Vietnam War.
