Assessor Address Protection Program

Introducing the Mohave County Assessor's Address Protection Program (AAPP), a cutting-edge initiative focused on fortifying property ownership security and mitigating the risks associated with address-related fraud. Triggered by the concerns of vigilant taxpayers, the AAPP addresses the vulnerability of property ownership to potential fraudulent activities that often commence with a change of address. Recognizing the critical role of ensuring property owners' sole control over address alterations, this program offers a robust solution to safeguard against unauthorized address changes and potential property theft.

Through the AAPP, taxpayers can proactively file a notarized affidavit, designating themselves as the sole authorized agent permitted to modify the mailing address on their property. This innovative program establishes a two-step notarized affidavit process for address changes, providing an additional layer of security. While the AAPP doesn't create an absolute lock on the address, it does create a visible flag in the Assessor's software system, alerting staff to the enrollee's participation. The Assessor's office maintains open communication with enrollees, ensuring their awareness of any address changes and verifying their identity in the process. Although not foolproof against all instances of fraud, the AAPP offers concerned taxpayers enhanced peace of mind and security regarding their property and ownership records. To enroll in the AAPP program, visit one of our Assessor's offices, complete a notarized application, and pay a nominal $50 processing fee. We strive for the success of this program in providing an added layer of security and peace of mind for both you and the Mohave County Assessor's office.
